Ginger Orange Rice

Elmwood Inn Fine Teas Ginger Orange Caffein-free Infusion is blended with pure dried ginger, orange peel and lemongrass. It makes a delicious beverage. It adds a refreshing flavor to this rice side dish, or use it to poach fish.

 

2 tablespoons Elmwood Inn Fine Teas Ginger Orange Infusion

2 cups boiling water

1 cup medium grain rice (rinsed)

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoons allspice

Fresh ground pepper

1 tablespoons fresh orange zest

2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil, scallions, parsley

Optional garnish:  cinnamon & crystallized ginger

Using a t-sac or infuser, brew Elmwood Inn Ginger Orange Infusion with 2 cups boiling water. Steep 10 minutes.

Pour brewed liquid into a 3-quart saucepan, adding the rice, salt, butter, allspice, and a few cranks of fresh ground pepper. Stir and bring to a boil.  Turn heat down to low and simmer 15-20 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed.

Cool mixture 10 minutes and add orange zest, basil, scallions and parsley. Garnish with chopped crystallized ginger and a sprinkling of cinnamon.

This rice can be served hot or cold and is nice pressed onto a plate with a rice press. Makes a great accompaniment to fish or seafood dishes.
