What is English Breakfast Tea?

Despite its name, the first English Breakfast Tea was created in New York in the nineteenth century. An article in the trade magazine "Journal of Commerce" explains how Richard Davies, an English apothecary from Hull, founded a small tea company in New York and, in 1843, made a new mix of teas using China Congou, Flowery Pekoe, and Pouchong. He called it English Breakfast and sold it at 50 cents per pound. The public apparently loved it, and as demand grew, other retailers created their version of this now world-famous blend. There is no standard recipe.

Also available in pyramid sachets.

According to the FDA, Consuming Just Two Cups of Black or Green Tea Daily Reduces the Risk of Heart Disease and Diabetes.

Lovely Breakfast Tea

This English Breakfast Black Tea is lovely. The color is beautiful and it is very fragrant. If you want a breakfast tea, you cannot go wrong with this one. My first sip says, "Good Morning!" The folks at Elmwood Inn Teas are great.

Superb and smooth

This is the first time I have had loose-leaf English Breakfast tea. It is perfect for me in the afternoon, with a book. It has a wonderfully smooth flavor. Great for unwinding. The resealable bag is sturdy. I am very pleased !

Favorite English Breakfast

This is by far my favorite English Breakfast blend I have ever tried. I bought it at the start of Lent in order to get used to drinking teas like Keemun black before adding sugar after Easter. I have so utterly fallen in love with the flavor of this blend that, as I write this review, I am using the last of my tin and drinking it black. I will be buying this in bulk in the future.

Lovely and fresh

I was surprised by this tea. I had previously only had blends, not Keemun and wasn’t expecting the lighter, fresh taste of this tea. I’ve come to love it as a first cup when I really get to sip and enjoy it. Lovely with or without a splash of milk or a hint of sugar.

English Breakfast Black Tea.

Excellent, especially when mixed with French Vanilla Black Tea.
